the systems we come from shape us
but they don’t have to define us
What Therapy Is Like With Me
Therapy with me is collaborative, relational, and grounded in curiosity. I do not see people as problems to be fixed. I see people as human beings shaped by relationships, family systems, culture, identity, lived experiences, and the environments they have had to survive and adapt to.
In our work together, we may explore what is happening in your present life while also making space to understand the patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped you. This can include how you communicate, how you cope, how you protect yourself, how you connect with others, and how you make sense of your emotions. My goal is to help you feel more understood while also supporting movement toward clarity, growth, and change.
I aim to create a space that feels honest, supportive, and emotionally grounded. Therapy does not have to be perfect, polished, or overly clinical. You can show up as you are- uncertain, overwhelmed, guarded, hopeful, frustrated, or still figuring out what you need. We can work from there.
My Approach
My approach is rooted in a systemic lens, which means I pay attention to more than just symptoms. I consider how relationships, family dynamics, identity, culture, community, stress, and life circumstances may be influencing what you are experiencing. I believe people make sense when understood in context.
Rather than focusing only on what is “wrong,” we may explore questions like:
-
What patterns keep showing up in your life or relationships?
-
What emotions feel difficult to express or understand?
-
What needs have been ignored, minimized, or pushed aside?
-
What roles have you learned to play in your family or relationships?
-
What boundaries may need to be strengthened?
-
What parts of you are asking for more care, honesty, or attention?
This work can help create deeper self-understanding and more intentional choices.
A Collaborative Space
Therapy with me is not about me telling you who you are or what to do. It is a collaborative process where we work together to understand what is happening and what kind of change feels meaningful to you. At times, I may offer reflections, ask questions, notice patterns, or gently challenge you to look at something from a different angle. I may also help you slow down emotions, name what is happening, and connect your experiences to larger patterns in your life. You are the expert on your lived experience. My role is to support, guide, reflect, and help create a space where insight and change can become possible.

You do not need to have one clear issue before starting therapy. Sometimes therapy begins with simply knowing that something feels heavy, confusing, or unsustainable.
What Sessions May Feel Like
Sessions may feel reflective, grounding, emotional, direct, or exploratory depending on what you bring in that day. Some sessions may focus on immediate stressors, while others may go deeper into patterns, relationships, or past experiences that continue to affect the present.
We may talk through what is happening in your life, identify emotions underneath the surface, explore relationship dynamics, and consider new ways of responding. The pace of therapy can be adjusted based on your needs, comfort, and goals.
Therapy is not about forcing vulnerability before you are ready. It is about building enough trust and safety to be honest with yourself and supported in the process.
My Style
My style is warm, honest, affirming, and engaged. I value real conversation, emotional depth, and practical insight. I want therapy to feel human- not cold, scripted, or distant.
I may help you name things clearly, connect dots, and notice patterns that may be difficult to see when you are in the middle of them. I also believe therapy should honor your strengths, not just focus on pain. Even when things feel difficult, there is often resilience, protection, and meaning in the ways people have learned to cope.
For Relationships and Families
When working with couples, relationships, or families, I focus on the pattern between people rather than blaming one person. Conflict often becomes painful when people get stuck in repeated cycles of misunderstanding, defensiveness, withdrawal, criticism, or unmet emotional needs. Therapy can help slow the pattern down so each person can better understand what is happening underneath the conflict. The goal is to create more clarity, accountability, emotional safety, and healthier communication.
A Space for Identity and Lived Experience
I aim to provide therapy that is affirming, culturally aware, and respectful of each client’s lived experience. Identity matters in therapy. Family, culture, gender, sexuality, race, class, community, and systems of power can all shape how people experience themselves and their relationships. I do not expect clients to leave important parts of themselves outside the therapy room. Those parts are welcome in the work.
Starting Therapy
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you are used to carrying things alone or minimizing your own needs. You do not have to know exactly where to begin. We can start with what feels most present and build from there. If this approach feels aligned, you are welcome to reach out through the contact form to request a consultation. From there, we can briefly discuss what you are looking for, answer questions, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
